Set uploaded file size (resolution)

Many times an image being uploaded has a much higher resolution than what is needed (or desired) to be uploaded to Flickr. I envision a new UI widget that lets the user select a new image size (resolution) that the image will be scaled to prior to being uploaded.

this would be especially usefull for people with free flickr access..Resizing with irfanview etc is a pain, because xmp comments are not retained..

I'd volunteer to implement this.. would you accept a patch?

Sure. If you provide me with the code to resize an image while maintaining quality and metadata, I will plug it into the UI.

sure.. I tried to checkout the code this morning but the codeplex client just checked out an empty directory...

Concerning the design.. my approach would be to hook in the resizing right before the uploading takes place. ( while(images) { resize ; upload; }otherwise one could create a temp directory and batch resize everything right before the upload process takes place (ugly).. then one could also do the resizing in a thread in the background while the uploading is in process... but I guess this is overkill.. In any case I need to know how the images are represented..what do you think and can you give me access to the code?
